Genessee graduated with her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from University of the Pacific with a minor in psychology. She completed her clinical internship at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, where she had the opportunity to work with a variety of different adult populations including patients in substance abuse rehabilitation, outpatient psychiatric groups, and older adults in neurologic rehabilitation and hospice care. Genessee received her Neurologic Music Therapy training & certification in 2019 and continues to enjoy working for MMTS in a variety of settings, including adult oncology & general medical, as well as brand new programs in inpatient acute neurorehabilitation and outpatient treatment for adults with ongoing neurologic disorders. She is committed to furthering the profession of music therapy and has served on the board of directors for the California Association for Music Therapy (CAAMT) since 2017, including as president from 2018-2020. She currently serves on the CA State Legislative Task Force as Past President of the CAAMT.
